Long Aviation, JCL Aviator, and Freedom Development are the business entities owned and operated by Jonathan Long (pictured above). An experienced cargo airline pilot with thousands of flight hours in aircraft ranging from small prop planes to heavy jets, Long started business operations in 1998 with one aircraft and a small rented office at the very small Goose Creek Airport on the east side of Charlotte, NC. Goose Creek was a great place to start the business, offering a fun, laid-back environment in which to offer general aviation services ranging from flight instruction to aerial photography and air charters.

In 2008, Long was seeking opportunities to grow his business,including working with aircraft that were too large or fast to land at Goose Creek. Jumping on an opportunity at the larger Rock Hill /York County Airport, just to the south of Charlotte, NC, Long founded Freedom Development to build and sell aircraft hangars – constructing his own “dream hangar” at Rock Hill Airport in the process. The move to Rock Hill was completed in 2009. Freedom Development continued to build hangars, while Long Aviation and JCL Aviator focus on sales of aircraft and aviation products, aircraft rejuvenation, and aviation consulting services.
